Refereeing

The SHA are proactively developing handball across Scotland. One area where we are developing is the referee and officials programme.

The SHA currently use existing players to referee and officiate games, but are looking for former players, or parents of current players to get more active in the sport. By becoming a referee or table official’s.

The SHA organise the following courses to aid referee and official’s development.

Table Officials Course: The first course to give an insight into the laws of the game. This is a 2hour course with an exam at the end.

This course covers the laws of the game in more depth, and what is expected of a referee.

The referee course has different levels which are currently being developed. More information to follow.

EHF Young Referee’s programme: The SHA are hoping to have two current players approved to be part of the EHF young referees programme. This programme is for person under 24 years of age and they must be nominated by the association to be included.

For more information on any of the above or dates of the next course’s, keeping visiting this website or contact.
