There were only 2 teams remaining unbeaten in the Men’s league before the weekend. These teams met on Saturday at Tryst sports centre in a very competitive match with a lot of young Scottish players involved in both teams. Livingston got a off to a quick start taking a 4-1 lead early on. Tryst gradually pulled it back to 4-4. For the rest of the first half both defences were strong but Livingston showed more effectiveness in attack and went in at half-time leading 12-8. Again at the start of the 2nd half Livingston made a strong start with Tryst struggling with taking their chances. Livingston managed to move to an 8 goal lead midway through the half. This prompted Tryst to start playing a more offensive defence and this put Livingston under pressure and allowed them to reduce Livingston’s lead to 3 near the end. However, Tryst struggled to keep up the intensity in the last 5 minutes and Livingston managed to break through running out 31-26 winners. Top scorer for Tryst was Mitchel Freeburn with 5 goals who came on late in the match but was very strong in attack and Livingston were struggling to stop him. For Livingston the top scorer was Chris White with 7 goals. It was great advert for the quality of Scottish Handball and the strength of the young players coming through. This takes Livingston to the top of the league with Tryst in second. Tryst are away to Edinburgh in their next match on the 18th of February which will be a tough match but this gives them the chance to go to the top of the league since Livingston are not playing that weekend.
