Livingston win clash at Tryst

There were only 2 teams remaining unbeaten in the Men’s league before the weekend. These teams met on Saturday at Tryst sports centre in a very competitive match with a lot of young Scottish players involved in both teams. Livingston got a off to a quick start taking a 4-1 lead early on. Tryst gradually pulled it back to 4-4. Livingston Win Top of Table Clash

Livingston won on Saturday against Edinburgh in their top of the table clash at Oriam. The Livingston side started the match very quickly and caught Edinburgh cold. Taking a 4-1 lead early in the match. The Edinburgh side soon came to life and brought match back to 5-5. It then stayed close till half-time with a score of 13-12 to Livingston at the break. Weekend matches

Tryst 77 and Edinburgh both kept up their unbeaten record at the weekend in the league. Edinburgh had a home win at Oriam with a 33-27 victory over Ecosse. Tryst 77 were playing away at East Kilbride and ran out 27-21 winners. This keeps the race close at the top with Livingston, Tryst and Edinburgh still unbeaten this year. Next weekend sees Edinburgh take on Livingston at Oriam which will give a chance to see who is strongest team between the two this year.

Women’s Tri-Nation Matches

Scotland U21 Women’s team took part in a Tri-Nations tournament over the weekend. England Handball organised the event at IM Marsh Campus in Liverpool between Scotland, Australia U21 and England U18. On Saturday Scotland made a successful start to the weekend with a 26-13 victory over Australia. On Sunday Scotland took on England in a close fought match. They led 17-15 at half-time but ran out as 36-31 losers in the end. It was good experience for the younger players with a number of the Scotland players in the GB W17 squad taking part.

GB women return to ‘home soil’ in Belgium matches

GB women return to ‘home soil’ in Belgium matches

GB Women’s handball team played their first matches on home soil since 2012 when they faced Belgium in two friendlies in Edinburgh.
GB lost the first match 31-36. However, they showed great spirit to bounce back from a nine-goal deficit at one point. Kathryn Fudge turned in an impressive display with 13 goals, while Zoe van der Weel beat the keeper eight times.
Fudge and Van der Weel were both on target four times in the second match, an 18-37 defeat. Anna Furman top scored for GB in that game with five goals. Fudge’s total of 17 goals made her the lead …
